Sustainable/Green Design

Harden Tree

During Marilyn’s Presidency of the Nebraska/Iowa chapter of ASID, the chapter championed the cause of prohibiting the use of mahogany and other exotic woods of the Rainforests in home furnishings.  The proposal became a national policy for the American Society of Interior Design.  These kinds of thoughts have now matured into “Green” buildings and “Sustainable Design”.

We encourage using resources that reflect this philosophy such as Harden Furniture of New York.  This manufacturer proudly manages its cherry forests in the United States, carefully harvesting trees from its reserves right in New York State.  Every decision counts in this heroic effort, creating beautiful furniture without harming our natural resources.

We strongly support green design and saving our precious resources for the future.
